Designing regenerative food systems
The Foundation’s Food Lead, Reniera O’Donnell, discusses how design is key to unlocking...
Thank you to everyone who joined us at Summit 23, the Foundation’s biggest annual event, held this year at London’s Roundhouse on 15th June 2023.
We were delighted to bring our Network and wider community together to discuss the economic imperative of transitioning to a circular economycircular economyA systems solution framework that tackles global challenges like climate change, biodiversity loss, waste, and pollution. It is based on three principles, driven by design: eliminate waste and pollution, circulate products and materials (at their highest value), and regenerate nature. that is regenerative by design, and explore a world without waste at our immersive evening showcase.
We have compiled a selection of interviews from the first three sessions, which are available to watch below. The evening session, which was broadcast live, is available to watch in full.
The circular economy represents a significant economic opportunity and the potential to innovate towards a future where positive impacts on nature are the outcome of our economic activity, as well as creating greater resilience to shocks. In this conversation, we explore what that opportunity might look like and speak to some of the business leaders working to implement it.
Realising the potential of the circular economy opportunity depends on our ability to evolve the underlying economic conditions. In this session, we explore the critical role of policy and financial actors in advancing the transition, the kinds of measures we need to move forward, and the new forms of collaboration across the public and private sectors that can unlock this opportunity.
We need powerful stories that create the impetus for change, showcase the best solutions, and help to normalise the idea of a circular economy more broadly across society. In this session, we welcome some of the world’s most impactful storytellers and filmmakers to discuss the why and how of this for a circular economy.
What will everyday products look like in a circular future? How can we revolutionise our food system? From reusing plastics and redesigning fashion to reimagining the cities we live in, learn more about the organisations implementing and scaling circular economy solutions.
The Ellen MacArthur Foundation works to accelerate the transition to a circular economy. We develop and promote the idea of a circular economy, and work with business, academia, policymakers, and institutions to mobilise systems solutions at scale, globally.
